Need a Laugh?

Do yourself a favor and read the link below for a good laugh.  Now I will warn you, it is about football.  However, if you follow just a wee-little bit of football, it is likely to provide a chuckle.  Yes, this is a weekly deal during football season and yes, it is always this funny.

Amazing Rain Dance

Need some rain?  Just let us know, we have figured out the most amazing rain dance with super results.  Every single time we decide to water our grass because it is really struggling, it rains (nearly immediately).  Point in case - Sunday we decided we needed to water because after cutting the yard on Wednesday/Thursday we noticed just how dry it had gotten.  Well sure enough after applying nearly 3 hours of water to the front yard, we got over 2 inches of rain starting Sunday night/Monday morning.

I also get similar results from washing my car.  So the next time you need some rain - try watering your yard or watching your car...we highly recommend it.

Recap of John's Visit

You have gotten a few highlights but here is the full recap from our weekend together...

MB, Hugh, John and Tico came up on Thursday night.  John was so happy to be here he couldn't stop laughing and smiling at us.  Exchange of the night: Me "John, how is school?"  John: "It's great.  I have hit anybody and I know, 'keep your hands, feet, and other objects to. your. self!"

Friday we went to Vicksburg, then split from MB and Hugh who spent the weekend in Greenwood.  John and I stopped at my office for a few minutes and once we left he said, "I told them all my name, but they didn't tell me theirs."  Poor kid, he was so upset that my coworkers didn't tell him their names.  He took a serious nap and had the bed head hair to prove it.

Saturday John and I spent the morning at the Children's Museum, which is awesome!  We loved it!  He played with the car, combine, log skidder, fishing poles, rock mover, and underground tunnels.  After playing for 2.5 hours, he slept for 3 hours - which just so happened to be during the Tech game.  I took him to Kroger as well were he heard my last name for the first time ever, and it seems, he thinks it is hilarious.  He repeated and laughed the rest of the afternoon.

Sunday morning we made pancakes.  I gave his own bowl with 1/2 cup of flour and my previous post shows the results of that.  MB and Hugh died when they saw the mess.  I didn't mind - he loved it.

Andrew and I loved having John and Tico with us this weekend and were thrilled that MB and Hugh were able to get away for a weekend.

Whoa, What a Mess

This is happening as I type...

And honestly, I don't care.  He has made pancakes, scrambled eggs, and is now and I quote, "Making a mess of your kitchen, Aunt Gray.  Uncle Andrew will clean it up."  He is having fun, this is something I am sure his mom would never let him do, and what the heck, the front end loader - vacuum cleaner will clean it up.

"The Vacuum Cleaner"

While driving back from Vicksburg today, John (oh yeah, he is hanging with us all weekend) says, "I want that dump truck to dump his entire load in the ROAD."  Of course, I respond with the typical, but it would block the road and we would have to wait for someone to clean it up.  Then I asked, "What equipment do you think they would use to clean it up?"  Just knowing he was going to tell me some type of dirt mover - nope, "A vacuum cleaner and back hoe.  Vacuum all that dirty up, then scoop it from the vacuum cleaner to the dump truck with the back hoe."

Okay DOT - next time a truck drops it load - I want to see a vacuum cleaner out there...

Another Spotting

Y'all, Andrew and I spotted another "new to Jackson, old to us" staple.  FIREHOUSE SUBS!

Okay now for those you that don't know, I love Firehouse.  It is one of the only sub places that I actually like.  My history with Firehouse goes back to the original location in Madarin, which is a suburb of Jacksonville (one of the two postivie things I credit a former boyfriend with...1) introducing me to Firehouse before they left the Jacksonville area and in case you were wondering...2) giving me the sunglasses I still wear to this day...that's it - nothing else).  So when they came to Atlanta just off campus I was thrilled...then the went to Macon...then even closer to our apartment in Macon...and now to Flowood!  Seriously, I can't wait for a Hook and Ladder with Honey Mustard and of course, Firehouse Red Sauce, and a Steak and Cheese!!!

Golf, Football, Fall, Fudge

I played in the Lake Caroline Club Championship over the past two days.  Yes it was fun.  Yes I came in last. No I didn't make a complete fool of myself (except when I sunk in the mud up to mid-calf trying to find my ball in the newly created, mostly empty water hazard). No I didn't find my ball.  Yes it was so bad I attempted to buy a new pair of shoes from the clubhouse immediately.  And finally - the ladies I played with - all play at least 3 times a week...if I didn't work and was able to play 3 times a week, I am pretty sure I would able to take down a few of them.

Now - to the Jacket fans - Heck yea!  I am really excited about the team this year...but I know we haven't really played anyone yet - but still at least our defense has finally learned that you we aren't playing two-hand touch!

Fall - where the heck did our fall-like weather go?  I seriously crave the two to three month period that is crisp and cool...I am done with the humidity this year.

And finally - after my 5 hour round of golf yesterday, I was craving baked fudge.  So, yes, I made some.  Yes, I considered eating Andrew's, but I didn't...had he waited another five minutes, I would have eaten it.

And one more thing -
"Uh, Mom?  Mom?  Would you please let me, you know, Butterbean, Tuck-ard, T-man, Duffy, Tucky, inside?  Mom?  I am begging."

Make fun of the fact we have massive weeds in our currently uncut back yard - and I will send Mr. Pout-Face to live with you.

Uh...Seriously

I am going to post the text of a news story posted on a local station's webpage.  Now, I am not perfect at grammar or comma usage (JMT - remember 11th grade?  yeah thought so), but y'all, I had to reread each sentence in this story about 5 times to finally figure it out.  And for Mrs. Susan - I swear I am not currently laughing thinking back to your run in with a sink-hole in the "grocery getter" ;)

"JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -
A Jackson family had the scare of their life this morning during the morning commute. The street they were riding on gave way, causing them to fall into a giant sinkhole. What's worse, they had to pay out of their own pockets to get unstuck.
Tony Brassfield had was almost reached his kids school and then bam!
"The street just caved in on us," said Brassfield.   "We had some minor injuries to the car, my kids stuff they were shaken up real good."
A giant sinkhole swallowed up the front end of the Brassfield's Ford Mustang.
Brassfield says, "It scared me a little bit made my kids get out of control a little bit, but they're emotional, everything else is ok."
After city street crews arrived Brassfield hit with another blow, they weren't going to pay for the tow truck to get him out of the hole, claiming they didn't know if they were responsible, because utilities under the street could have caused the sinkhole.
"I think the city of Jackson should be responsible for it they tried to get me to pay the tow fee out of my pocket, I'm not going to do it. I think they should pay for the street for the tow fee and damages done to my vehicle not only that, I go to work everyday, I pay my taxes that's what I pay my money for, for them to fix the streets," said Brassfield.
In the end Brassfield had to pay $75.00 dollars out of his own pocket to pay for the wrecker to free up his ride. No word on how long the city inspection of the street would take to determine who was at fault.
If you believe the city of Jackson may be responsible for damage caused to your property, you can call the Risk Management department to file at claim at..."

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

(funny side note: I am horrible with spelling, so when the Travis Tritt song TROUBLE came out, I finally found a way to remember how to spell it, and yes it still works.)

Folks, trouble has landed...I found the exact location of the new Brooks Brothers last night.  I stopped in at Sephora to pick up some eyeliner on the way home from the golf course and low and behold - the most beautiful site -
Now for the serious trouble part...it is right next door to Sephora, which is beside Banana Republic, which is beside Ann Taylor, and Loft is just a few steps from there...let's just say my 4 favorite clothing stores all beside each other - is serious trouble.

Phone Picture Dump

I just found several pictures on Andrew's phone that I didn't know he had or had forgotten about them...

View 1 - Car v Deer (click for the original post)
 View 2 - Car v Deer
This is from our trip to Charleston in March - this was during our daily walk on the beach.
We wanted to show Tucker's height...this was in July.  We don't allow him to jump but we really wanted to show how tall he really is - and no he isn't fully extended.

Seema's Wedding

We had the great honor of attending the wedding of a med/peds resident.  It wasn't just any wedding...it was a traditional Hindu Wedding.  Let me tell you - if you think we can party - you haven't been to an Indian wedding!

I didn't get any pictures from the ceremony but I did get a few pictures and video from the reception.  Just a few notes...no animals were involved, the food was amazing, they spent tons of money on this wonderful occasion...how do I know...the DJ and MC were flown in from New York...enough said.  If you ever have the chance to attend an Indian wedding you should go!

A few of the med/ped spouses...
 Seema and Kendall
You can see more of her 3rd dress of the day...all were beautiful...handmade beauties...
This is Seema's sister and cousin performing...it was awesome!

State of My Kitchen

This is just a glimpse of what happens to my kitchen when I decide to make cinnamon rolls.  In this case, I had four cups of milk about to expire and I didn't have any cinnamon rolls in the freezer, so I made cinnamon rolls.  You will notice I have to use plastic cutting boards to roll out the dough - I have tile counters...not good for rolling dough.  Unfortunately, for the first time ever, I killed the yeast - too much heat..so the rolls are slightly dense but still really good (we had some for lunch yesterday!).

Uncle Andrew Said...

Word on the street is that John likes to tell tales especially when he is getting into trouble...this is the way it goes down...

Responsible Adult: "John, are you supposed to be (digging up my flowers, throwing sand, picking your nose, kicking Tico, etc)?"

John: "Well, Untle Undew (aka Uncle Andrew) said I could."

HAHA - You have to love the fact that Andrew is John's favorite person right now and loves to use him has his "permission" to do anything!  Andrew's response...I need to spend more time with that kid!

First Day of School

In light of the picture from yesterday, I figured you needed something a little more appealing today.
A certain someone started pre-school today!  I am still not sure why Baby needs to go to school, but I am told that Baby had to learn too!  But seriously - this kid is going to kill me with his preciousness!

UPDATE: IT WAS TAKE YOUR BABY TO SCHOOL DAY.  ALSO, HE TOLD ME VERY QUICKLY THAT HE LOVED SCHOOL AND WAS READY TO GO BACK!!  OH AND I FAILED TO MENTION IS HE THE ONLY BOY IN A CLASS OF 5 GIRLS...THIS COULD BE INTERESTING.

Teeth

No not mine this time - Tucker's.  Our dog has the "most messed up grill" ever.

His two bottom front teeth are tiny, as in barely above the jaw line, the rest are just spaced all wrong.

I feel the need to tell you that Andrew's fingers are not in Tucker's eye as it might appear and that we take great pride in keeping his nose super clean...

TS Lee

Just a few pictures from our 12" of rain thanks to TS Lee.

Yes I was driving and taking pictures...No, no vehicle or person was hurt as a result.

Uniforms

Excuse me for just a moment...I try to avoid saying anything about UGA because well they are our #1 rival and yes I went to grad school there, but really my heart is with Tech.  Anyway - while not a UGA fan, I do love the tradition of the silver britches, and history tells us that when UGA wears something other than the traditional silver britches, they get their britches handed to them on a silver platter.  So when I saw the "special" uniforms for the Boise State game last night, I couldn't help but laugh at how terrible they looked and how they just sealed the deal to get beat.  Sure enough that is what happened...they got beat.  While looking like red Power Rangers...but I guess the super powers were not with the team last night.  And now I direct your attention to the coaches' shoes.  Uh, Dear UGA, please don't wear the Power Ranger outfits again and please tell the coaches that red shoes only look good on women.  Thanks, This Embarrassed for You Tech Fan.

It's Up With the White and Gold...

Yes sir, bet you bottom dollar it is FOOTBALL SEASON!  Here is the scene of the crime last night...
See the Tech player (in white) about to demonstrate how to wrap-up when tackling, well he is from Westside High School in Macon.  A certain someone's HS as well.  Coach Davis has said that Julian Burrentt (#40) is by far the best kid he has ever coached...better than any of the guys that went on to the NFL.  Bottom line - we support this kid like it is nobody's business because he is going places.  He is super smart, a very hard worker, and he plays "lights out" no matter what.  GO JULIAN and GO JACKETS!
