Catching Up on Cooking Club

It's been a while since I posted recipes from cooking club, and it isn't because there has been a lack of good recipes.  We changed cookbooks in January and have been working out of "Lone Star to Five Star."  It is a Junior League out of Texas.  Really interesting mix of foods.  So far the desserts have been the major star.

It's Ice Cream Time!

It is that time of the year folks!  I have already made the first batch of homemade ice cream.  I started with peach.  Next up, strawberry.  I just found a creme brulee ice cream recipe.

Um - yum!

Send me ideas and I will try it out.  I'm all about trying new recipes in the name of finding a good sweet treat!!

Church Humor

Our church has an awesome sense of humor.  It is definitely one of the many things Andrew and I love about it.  The people are friendly and welcoming, the staff is amazing, the fellowship is always excellent, and of course, we really appreciate the traditional Episcopal worship/beliefs.

However, while we take many things very seriously,  our team names, is not one of them.  Or maybe it is.  The point of the names may be to make people laugh and smile. Here is a little sampling...

We have a group of men that cook for special events and participate in "cook-off"s.  They are the "Holy Smokers."

The crew of runners that trained for the Blues and proudly wore team t-shirts were the "Sole Trainers."  (Yep, I was a proud member of this team...and we all met at the beer truck afterwards.  Go figure.)

Our softball team is known as the "Ash Kickers."  Hilariously the last two times we have used incense during the service - ashes were kicked.

Okay, really...you have to admit that we are funny bunch.

Toothpick

I'm sure I have told this story before - but I stepped on a toothpick as a kid and hung around in my foot for a few years...like 15 or so years.  Anyway - while in Georgia, I took pictures of the evidence.

Catching Up

I've been super lazy about blog posts lately, sorry.

This kid turned 4 in March!  I seriously can't believe my little peanut nephew is 4.  I'm sorry but these pictures of him painting on his new art set (which was mine from 25 years ago and Mac cleaned up for him) in his lightning drawers is just too darn cute.

Beer Report - Be on the look out for Back Forty Beer Company and any of their beer.  My new personal favorite is Truck Stop Honey.  It is a brown ale with honey.  It is wonderful!  It is called liquid folk art.  We toured the brewery during our Gadsden interview.  But really y'all it is good stuff.
It even gives you food pairing suggestions.
I highly recommend it after cutting grass...
If I decided to sit outside and leave the door open, Tucker does this...pretty smart dog.
This sky was just too pretty not to capture.  It also resulted in a sun burn.  It hurt.
If you lay out after cutting grass, make sure you get the grass clipping stuck to your leg off first - otherwise you will end up with a few interesting marks on your legs.  Just sharing my experience.
I love this chair.  I found it in a some random magazine or maybe a One Kings Lane mailer - either way - I love it.  Just sharing.

What has been going on with us these days???  We went to John's birthday party, Andrew went to Georgia for a few days, I went to Georgia for a few days, I had work conference on the coast, work has kept us both busy, and we aren't moving!!!  So one thing I haven't been doing - worrying about moving!!!!  I'm just a little excited - can you tell???
