Atlanta Shower

It started as a girls weekend with Megan and Christie that ended up with a joint baby shower tossed in the mix.  It was perfect!  Andrew graciously agreed to drive me to town since 5 hours at 32 weeks alone wasn't going to happen.  We did what we always do on girls weekend - we ate Atlanta food we don't normally yet, went shopping at stores we don't have, and spent time catching up.  Poor Megan - she slept on a pull out sofa and had to put up with our frequent trips to the potty all night long.

Back to the shower...Megan and Katherine hosted my half.  It was perfect!  I loved the location, the food, the company, and the chance to catch up with the girls.  By the way - the next round of Adam/Andrew is on the way...watch out world.  Katherine is due in June with their second child, but first boy.

Jackson Shower

The next shower was here in Jackson.  Rachel and Kim were my running buddies for the Blues half last year.  Rachel was our team leader - and the only reason I ever thought I could run a half.  Kim and I did most of our long training runs together and ran the first 6 miles together.  Both attend St. Andrew's with us and really are a huge part of why we love our church.

CMPDD Shower

JW has been celebrated at several showers.  The first was at work.  My coworkers, specifically Lesley, were kind to honor me with a shower at the office.

Even Kim and Allie came to celebrate!!!

Lately

Until we bought new furniture, we (stupidly) allowed this to happen...
We leave him inside alone often when it is really cold outside.  He has been doing great for several years now.  We got to the point that we wouldn't even move pillows or anything.  He really didn't bother anything.  Until last night.  We decided to leave him inside for the first time since his chair went to the dump and the other furniture arrived.  We thought if we blocked the sofa and put his bed out for him that he would be great like he has been.  WRONG!
He was standing on the sofa when I walked in the door and then I saw feathers.  I thought our sofa was a goner.  Luck for him and for us - he was just taking a nap on the sofa after having played with my new insert pillow that is waiting on its backordered case.  I had a crappy day yesterday - if it could go wrong or break, it did.  I mean really, y'all, this crazy woman at Walmart came within an inch of hitting me with the motorized shopping cart because she "couldn't get my finger off the gas thingy."  My desk printer stopped working, the postage meter wouldn't work for me, the color copier wouldn't scan, the black and white copier that became my printer jammed...  So at this point I just laughed.  After throwing the dog outside in the 20 degree weather.  He figured it out quickly.  He stayed inside this morning and was a very good boy.

Next - does anyone else take a girls weekend trip and end up sitting on a pull out sofa eating leftovers from their baby shower while watching "mindless" tv in their pj's at 7pm???
No??  Really??  Y'all should try it sometime.  I had a bottle of water and Megan had a bottle of wine...it was perfect.  Christie went to dinner with some other friends so she missed this part of our weekend...she was jealous.

Finally - when in need of a place to store hats in a nursery - just hang a deer head - it makes a great hat rack...
Yep - the boy is going to grow up with golf clubs and a deer in his room.  If you expect your child to be comfortable at the country club and the hunting club - you better start him early!

House Redo

After nearly 5 years, we have completed our house makeover...including a nursery!!

We are waiting on two recliners to arrive...one in the nursery to go beside the dresser/changing table and one in the living room.

Our entire house has been repainted (thanks to Andrew's dad, Andrew and my parents, but mostly Andrew's dad), curtains have been rehung (thanks to my parents and Andrew), the nursery has been created and completed (thanks to my parents and Andrew), and the living furniture is finally new (after using 20 year old pieces from my parents, Mom and I went shopping.)  Whew - it has been a busy few months, but we are ready now!

A Glimpse

Here is a glimpse at our weekend.  I will post a recap later, but I need to recover first.

Nursery Progress

This whole having a baby thing is quickly becoming reality.  It has taken a while to really hit home, but man, has it hit us both lately.  We had started clearing out the former office, but were taking our time.  Well, this weekend, we got busy.  After finishing clearing it out, we...actually Andrew...all Andrew (I did very little) painted and put together the dresser!  We plan to get the crib out of the attic this week.  My hope is that when Mom and Dad leave on Sunday, it is a complete nursery ready for this wild child.

Before paint -

During the painting...

Andrew and his supervisor putting together the dresser.  We have a gray nursery!  No more yellow/gold!
The supervisor fell asleep on the job.  Actually, this was in protest to him being told that he is not allowed in the nursery.  He has a major shock coming, poor guy.
 Finished!!
And just so I won't forget - that dresser came in 50 million pieces.  The only thing that didn't require assembly was the top.  Everything else required some assembly.  It took Andrew 4 hours...non-stop...whew!
