Quote of the Day

This was too funny not to share. Dave Holmes, aka D2, works in the cube to my left and to my right is Kim. Anyway, we all under 30 but Dave is the only single...anyway, we were discussing my cruise this summer and Dave comes out with the best line of the day.

"I need to find me a singles only cruise that way the girls can't run from me!"

Kim and I both started laughing like school girls, it was the funniest thing we have heard in a while!

Confirmation

After a great deal of thought and prayer, I made the decision to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Having grown up in the Methodist Church and Andrew in the Episcopal, we knew that some day, one of us would make the decision to join the other's church. Since we got married, we attended the Episcopal Church and I really enjoyed the worship because it is so traditional. And after the move to Jackson, we found St. Andrew's Episcopal and fell in love. Without any further discussion between Andrew and I, I decided I was ready to make the move and be confirmed. So I have been participating in the required class and have really enjoyed meeting other young adults, and most importantly, I have enjoyed learning about the Church. So this Mother's Day, I will officially become Episcopalian. But because I have been confirmed in the Methodist church, I don't have be "re-confirmed" I will simply transfer my letter and receive a blessing from the Bishop.

Busy March

Sorry for no new updates lately, but March has been really busy for us. It started with a busy week of work, then a weekend visit from MB and John. She forgot to bring her camera and I didn't think to get mine out, so no pictures.

But while in town, we visited the Jackson Zoo with John. Although he found some of the animals to be interesting, his favorite and I mean drooling on the ground, snap your head around, favorite was the real-live-tractor that drove right by us. Picture typical guy on the beach, cute girl in skimpy bathing suit walks by, and then watch the guy follow her as she approaches then quickly turns to continue following her as she walks on down the beach...yep...that was John!!

The next weekend was filled with golf and beautiful weather. Then middle of March, Andrew left me to go home for several days. He had to get in ample play and sleep time with Bailey, visit with Gary and Lindley, Papa Ouzts, and his folks. The guys (Andrew, Gary and Mr. Charlie) played a round of golf with a dear family friend, actually, Andrew's Godmother's husband, and Steven's Godfather...got it, good. Then Steven drove in and Mr. Charlie and his boys, Gary included of course, went to the woods to turkey hunt. Andrew finally remembered he had a wife in Mississippi came back on Sunday - just kidding, he called me every day like he calls Gary when they aren't together!

So while he was enjoying family time in Georgia, I was enjoying family time in Mississippi. Yep, Mom, Dad, MB, Hugh, John, Tico, Grandmomma, and Granddaddy were at our house to celebrate John's 1st birthday. (Pictures to be added as soon as MB and Dad load them). We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed watching John open and play with each gift. We also went to the Patio and Garden show and the Eastern Nationals for the National Cutting Horse Association. Here's my brief description of cutting horse show...the rider is assigned a calf to pick out of the herd then keep them out of the herd for a given period of time. Once the calf is out of the herd so to speak, the horse locks eyes with the calf and starts to work its magic. The horse sprints to and from, stopping and turning on a dime...it is really pretty awesome to watch. Anyway, once again, the adults loved watching the horses do their thing, but John, nope, it was the moo of the calf and the real-live-tractor once again that stole that boy's heart.

Disclaimer: Andrew and the guys had huge plans for a massive turkey hunt last year for the weekend following Match Day...well if you remember John decided he was ready to join us a couple of weeks early, so Andrew jumped in the car with me to share in the joy of John's birth, so the hunt got canceled. This year everyone agreed that since Andrew so graciously came to Mobile to see John without saying a word, he would go hunting this year and miss John's 1st birthday.

Then, this past weekend, Andrew's parents came for a visit. We show them around town on Saturday morning, enjoyed a day of shopping (for us girls) and golf (for the guys). Mrs. Susan surprised me by wanting to get me a dress for Confirmation (more on that later). We found the perfect dress and had a blast together. We had the most amazing dinner at Julep and really had a blast with them in town.

Wow - what a month it has been - and to have spent all but one weekend with family - we are pretty lucky!

Mississippi Hunting

First, let me just say that I am thrilled that Spring is almost here. It is approaching 80 today and all the trees started to blossom overnight!

Now back to hunting in Mississippi - I have learned that it is possible to go deer hunting in Mississippi without a gun and during non-season times. In fact, it is pretty dang popular. So how is it done? Easy, just drive a truck! Yep, as soon as someone hits a deer around here, the truck (car sometimes) behind the "damaged" car, pulls up, throws the deer in the bed and just like that you have dinner! It is true. People even call their friends/family to get them to come help pick it up. But here is the catch...you have to be the first person on the scene. You can't waste time going to get a truck, and in most cases, the person that hits the deer can't even react quick enough to land the goods! Now you are thinking, yeah sure, only the rednecks would do that...oh no...everyone does it. We were laughing about it this morning in the office. All the hunters have a "grabbing the road kill story."

I just love this place - I am in the largest city in the State and it is as country as Bostwick!
