93...91...

And those aren't grades from high school.  Nope, that would be my golf scores from this weekend.  Goodbye high handicap, hello "I can't keep playing this good."  Yet I don't really feel like I am playing that much better than I had been.

Oh and yes - it was hotter than an iron skillet waiting on chicken to be fried both days.  We played Sunday afternoon and took a cart rather than walking because when it is 95+ outside, I refuse to be that stupid.  Today we played at 7:15 this morning so we walked.  By the end of the round at 10:45am, it was 90 with a heat index of 95 and we were struggling to make it back to the clubhouse.

Caught...

Someone was caught in the act of sneaking a bite of pizza.  Granted it was left over and had he not helped himself, he would have gotten at least the crust as an after dinner treat.  In case you weren't sure, we have a dang tall dog.  He reached that with both front paws completely on the ground.

Shower for Kim

I was forced, made to go to a baby shower for Kim yesterday.  I seriously dreaded every minute of having to spend time with Kim and meet all the girls that I have heard about for a while and eat cake...dreaded.  Ha - yeah right!  It was more like you couldn't keep me from going!!  And of course, it was a blast!!

Along with Lesley and Dave, we gave Kim and Cory their pack-n-play.  As soon as it was spotted by the guys in the room (it was a couples shower...more like the guys watched State play baseball and the girls sat outside on the porch and talked...awesome shower, right?)  they renamed the pack-n-play, the "kennel."  Hilarious, only guys would come up with that.

Kim is due June 22, so she really is over and done with pictures - but she had no choice - so Kim don't kill me for posting this one.  But get this - they are in the process of moving from Winona back home in Wiggins, yet she is delivering in Jackson - so guess who is going to be in town for a week or so to be close "just in case" and guess who is super excited to have Kim back for a while?!?!?!

Sprinkler

Why is it that Andrew can use the sprinklers on the yard and never get soaked yet when I attempt to use the sprinklers, I get soaked?  Not just a little drizzle on my hands - nope - soaked.  I don't even try to adjust the settings, I just toss it out, and let it rip and I still get soaked.  Granted I am too lazy to turn the water off each time I move it - that might be my problem.  I use the ol' kink trick.  Yep, that might be my problem.

Tucker's best friend, I mean Andrew's best friend, Gary came to visit and play in a three day golf tournament with Andrew last weekend.  He arrived on Wednesday night so they could play a practice round on the day before the tournament began.  If they weren't on the golf course, Tucker was attached to Gary's hip.  Gotta say it was nice to have a third person for Tucker to beg for loving from every second of every day.

We went to a Braves game on Thursday night - so much fun.  Of course Andrew picked the seats, so we sat third row from the dugout about 20 feet outside the net behind home plate aka in the line of fire.  Gary and I were very quick to inform Andrew that he would be the only one not on the deck if a ball came our way.

While the guys played in the tournament on Saturday, I played with the ladies group at Lake Caroline.  I was the youngest by a solid 30 years.  Time to talk some others that are younger than 60 to play on Saturdays.  Otherwise, I had a blast...and didn't play too bad either.

Oh the boys placed 2nd in their flight.  They nearly won but it seems that the water on the last two holes caused them a little trouble.  They still won some pretty awesome loot and had a great time together.

That's the boring, no picture recap of the weekend.  On tap for this weekend - avoiding anything that doesn't involve air conditioning.

Whoops

Yep - I thought the garage wall needed a little modern art.  Our next house will have an extra large garage with protected walls.

Family and Tucker

Andrew and I have been treated to a wonderful visit from my aunt and uncle, Patti and Len!  It sure is nice to have family visit so you can show them why we love this place.  Not to mention, just to be able to spend time with them.  Thanks for coming out Patti and Len, we have enjoyed it!

In honor of Patti's mother (my grandmother, Dad's mother), I decided that I needed to make a buttermilk custard yesterday.  I haven't made one in several years, and oh how I have missed it.  It was wonderful, if I may say so myself.  In fact, Andrew and I agreed it had to get out of our house as quickly as possible, otherwise, we were going to polish it off.  Cooking club ladies - it is actually in Square Table.

Then the many sleeping positions of Tucker.  I would love for someone to tell me how these could be comfortable...
Another view, a little closer...
 Then this...
 Which became this...
Then this...

And finally - if you have a weak stomach - just stop here.  On Thursday afternoon, the dog starting throwing up after eating a few bites of food and drinking a good amount of water.  He had been outside all day and has been known to drink too much cold water while still too hot and throw up.  So when he started, I really didn't think much about it - other than to get him outside and out of my house (less clean up) as quickly as possible.  Well, then this next picture started coming up.

It seriously looked like egg yoke.  After cleaning up this pile plus the one that appeared to be just water...I have decided that he must have eaten some eggs at some point during the day.  The pile that seemed like water actually had the texture of egg whites.  He was immediately fine - ready to eat more and play.  I just don't get the crazy stuff this dog does some times.

Work conference on the coast was this past week.  I was able to play in the golf tournament this year for the first time, and my team managed to win!!  I contributed several shots, including sinking a 20 footer for birdie and (proudly) out drove my team twice.  And let me say, two of my team members were dang good, so I was pleased to have contributed.

Of course, I have to go spend time with John, MB, and Hugh - I mean how could you not?  I was met at the door with a chant, "Aunt Dray, Aunt Dray, Aunt Dray!"  Then when I left each time, he had no less than 5 reasons why I shouldn't leave and why I should live with him "fo-evera."  We finished up work around lunch on Monday, so I spent the afternoon with John and MB.  MB really wanted a pedicure so after his nap and work for her, we went to get pedicures.  John sat with me and kept his feet in the tub the entire time.  He thought it was so much fun to have his feet in the water...no we didn't let him get his toes painted.  Oh and in the way of a big sister, MB told John to pick out a color for me, while she grabbed one and ran to the chair before he could help her.  Gee thanks, Sister.  John and I settled on a blue/silver/purple/gray color.  Then we had to go to kick ball practice.  He promised to kick the ball for me.  And sure enough he did!!  But then he displayed his running skills, uh...actually...dirt kicking while running skills.
The rest of the week was a lot of work with a little fun mixed in (I think the powers that be make sure we have some fun just to be sure we come back to work on Monday after conference).

Mom and Dad came back out on Friday for the weekend.  I really should add that Andrew made sure the dishes were done, the house was picked up, and even swept for me.  It was very nice to come to a house that was ready for company.  A certain oreo cookie looking dog was living a dream all weekend.  He put his face up to the door and Mom couldn't jump and run fast enough to let him in.  They seriously allowed the dog to do things that they would have never let Ham do...like this...twice...

We had a super busy weekend.  We took the door down, picked out stain, Dad (with Andrew's assistance) stained the door while I took Mom to get a pedicure, then dinner at Sal and Mookies.  We started back over first thing Saturday morning (poor Andrew was working 7a-7p shifts all weekend).  We went to look at cabinet hardware for their kitchen, ended up picking out the set (we think), then bought paint/stain for our shutters, then Dad and I played 9 holes at Whisper Lake, went to Pawn Stars and the Farmer's Market, back home for lunch, then put the first coat of poly on the door while Mom and I painted the shutters, and before we finished Dad sharpened the lawn mower blade and changed the oil in it for us (while Mom and I drank a beer, ha).  We went to Keifer's for dinner and after chasing the moon (seriously, Dad was determined to get several pictures of it), I treated them to Bop's.

On our way home from dinner on Friday, we got stopped on Lakeland in traffic.  While terribly sad, we were honored to watch a police escort of the Pearl officer that was killed earlier in the week.  It was amazing to see the support that the different jurisdictions were offering.  That is one traffic jam we will never forget.

On a much lighter note, Mom had never seen me play golf.  Dad and I played together when I first started lessons in middle school, but that was years ago.  While I wish Andrew could have gone with his, it was a lot of fun.  Dad hadn't swung a club in 4 years (and since he had shoulder surgery).  He played very well.  I shot a 41 and he shot a 48 (par 32) - had it not been for one blow-up hole, he would have been right there with me.  Mom loved watching us and kept us laughing the entire time.  Our score discussions with her went like this:
Mom: What did you have?
Me: A par
Mom: Well how many is that?
Me: 3
Mom: Oh that's how many you are supposed to have.
Dad and I: Yep that's what you call a par...

Mom: Did you have a 5?
Me: Yep
Mom: Ohhh, you were only supposed to have used 4.
Me: Yep, I am well aware that I missed my par putt...thanks for pointing it out.
Mom: Well you should have made it, it was only about 8 feet.
Dad and I: Ha!  If only it was that easy.
