Growing Pains and Weight

No joke - Tucker has growing pains in his hips. How did we figure this out?

Not so easy - in the middle of the night on Friday/Saturday morning, Tucker would not stop this whining/cry that I had never heard before. He was obviously uncomfortable and in pain, so I tried everything including moving him into our bedroom, but still nothing would make him stop. So after an hour of this, I got out the handy phone, googled "dog stomach bloat/turn" and found that the initial warning signs are restlessness, discomfort, whining, tight stomach...all of which Tucker was showing. NOTE: Stomach bloat in Great Danes, basically equals thousands of dollars and prayer that they will make it, unless you catch it early. I (with Dad's company) take Tucker to the emergency clinic at 5am for x-rays. Come to find out, it isn't bloat - thank goodness, but it growing pains in his hips instead...go figure...wimpy dog.

Now we have doggie advil, have confirmed that our dog is a wimp, and have determined that his hips are in great condition.

But the best part - we got his new weight - sit down, Ouzts Family, this might shock you...ready...okay...

102.08 pounds at 7 months! Yeppers, we have a monster on our hands.

Sorry - that is MB's 4 pound monster that came to visit this weekend, not our monster...

Here is our monster...our sweet, wimpy monster...that talked his dad into letting him sit on the furniture since Tico does and since his growing pains felt better when he wasn't on the floor...huh...
And here is one more...and this one is really a monster when he gets hungry...
He came to visit me for my birthday weekend with his Mac, C-C, and little fish head dog brother...

Oh my goodness! What a big baby you have! When do they stop growing? I am told for my breed combo that it will be into a 1-1.5 years! I think they are finally slowing down but now yours....

Glad you got the doggie Advil! With the cooler weather coming making joint issues and growing pains, your ears are going to need it!

He will continue to add height for another 5 months (12 month mark) then he will really fill-out from 12-24 months...so we are looking at another 17 months or so of weight gain...
