I am not going to go into the details of why this has happened other than the cold weather, but the City of Jackson has had to stop distribution of water because it has had over 100 water main breaks. They still have about 30 left to repair and until all are repaired and the system has been flushed, no one in the City will have water.
So what does that really mean? Well, the City is shut down expect my office and UMC. Basically, UMC has their own water system - very smart for a hospital, and our office decided to require "essential" employees to report...well our entire planning staff deemed themselves "essential." If you aren't an essential employee then why do you have a job?? Anyway, all is well at our home - we have plenty of water. Really at work we are doing okay as well. Today all employees were called back in because we have an RV and porta-potties in the parking lot.
The moral of this story is not to complain about your water rates or taxes that have been increased to pay for water system repairs/improvements...this is what happens when the system is forgotten for 100 years!

OhhWee - Sounds like Atlanta's outdated system. :-) Go figure - water infrastructure often gets put on the back burner because you don't "see" it immediately.
Classy! Hope you have fun running out to the "outhouse!" :)
Haha! Is this why I had such a hard time finding a hotel in Jackson?! Ridiculous... Can't wait to see you this week!
The water situation is the exact reason you had a hard time finding something. All is resolved now so you should be able to find something. I should have made suggestions earlier, but the Cabot Millsaps, right next to UMC and clean, but a little old, Hilton on County Line, clean but old and further away, Holiday Inn Express Flowood, Hampton Inn Flowood, Candlewood Suites Flowood, all new and near our house about 10 minutes from UMC.
I can't wait to see you!!
